September

September

September is the ninth month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars, the third of four months to have a length of 30 days, and the fourth of five months to have a length of less than 31 days. In the Northern Hemisphere September is the seasonal equivalent of March in the Southern Hemisphere. In the Northern hemisphere, the beginning of the meteorological autumn is on 1 September. In the Southern hemisphere, the beginning of the meteorological spring is on 1 September. September marks the beginning of the ecclesiastical year in the Eastern Orthodox Church. It is the start of the academic year in many countries of the northern hemisphere, in which children go back to school after the summer break, sometimes on the first day of the month. September from Latin septem, "seven" was originally the seventh of ten months in the oldest known Roman calendar, the calendar of Romulus c. 750 BC, with March Latin Martius the first month of the year until perhaps as late as 451 BC. After the calendar reform that added January and February to the beginning of the year, September became the ninth month, but retained its name. It had 29 days until the Julian reform, which added a day. Ancient Roman observances for September include Ludi Romani, originally celebrated from September 12 to September 14, later extended to September 5 to September 19. In the 1st century BC, an extra day was added in honor of the deified Julius Caesar on 4 September. Epulum Jovis was held on September 13. Ludi Triumphales was held from September 18–22. The Septimontium was celebrated in September, and on December 11 on later calendars. These dates do not correspond to the modern Gregorian calendar. In 1752, the British Empire adopted the Gregorian calendar. In the British Empire that year, September 2 was immediately followed by September 14. September was called "harvest month" in Charlemagnes calendar. September corresponds partly to the Fructidor and partly to the Vendemiaire of the first French republic. On Usenet, it is said that September 1993 Eternal September never ended. September is called Herbstmonat, harvest month, in Switzerland. The Anglo-Saxons called the month Gerstmonath, barley month, that crop being then usually harvested.

Septemberprogramm

The Septemberprogramm was the plan for the territorial expansion of Imperial Germany, prepared for Chancellor Theobald von Bethmann-Hollweg, at the beginning of World War I. The Chancellors private secretary, Kurt Riezler, drafted the Septemberprogramm on 9 September 1914, in the early days of the German attack in the west, when Germany expected to defeat France quickly and decisively. The extensive territorial conquests proposed in the Septemberprogramm required making vassal states of Belgium and France and seizing much of the Russian Empire. The Septemberprogramm was not effected because France withstood the initial German attack, and the war devolved into a trench-warfare stalemate, and ultimately ended in German defeat. As geopolitics, the Septemberprogramm itself is a documentary insight to Imperial Germanys war aims, and shows the true scope of German plans for territorial expansion in two directions, east and west. Historian Fritz Fischer wrote that the Septemberprogramm was based on the Lebensraum philosophy, which made territorial expansion Imperial Germanys primary motive for war.Jonathan Steinberg has suggested that if the Schlieffen Plan had worked, and produced a decisive German victory, like the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, the Septemberprogramm would have been implemented, thus establishing German hegemony in Europe.

Dimitrovist Pioneer Organization "Septemberists"

Dimitrovist Pioneer Organization "Septemberists" was a pioneer movement in Bulgaria. The organization was founded in September 1944. DPO "Septemberists" organized children between 9 and 14 years old. Its day-to-day affairs were supervised by the Dimitrovist Young Communist League. A 1967 estimate put its membership to about 700 000. There were also an organization called chavdarcheta – these were the youngest children, which later became pioneers. The difference between the two was the distinctive scarf, which was sky-blue in the chavdarcheta movement and red in the pioneri movement.

DN160822 03

DN160822 03 was a quasi-satellite of Earth that entered the atmosphere and exploded over eastern South Australia as a fireball on 22 August 2016. The size of the object was thought to be two to three metres in diameter. The fireball was detected by the cameras of Desert Fireball Network of Australia, an automated network of cameras which watches for fireballs over the continent. The Russian website Russia Pulse reported in Russian as follows, translated into English: Scientists of University of Kertin in Australia have found out that on 22 August 2016, the atmosphere of the Earth above Australia included natural Earth satellite. The small meteorite grasped by an attraction of a planet and for a while become its moon, steep. Low speed specifies that the object rotated around of the Earth, and the angle of falling excludes space garbage, including idle space vehicles and their fragments. With 95 percent reliability the meteorite was temporary Earth satellite. DN160822 03 is one of several quasi-satellites or temporary natural satellites of Earth. Two of them were destroyed as noted in the 9 February 1913 Great Meteor Procession. These could be the last remnants of a ring around the Earth composed of ejecta of a lunar volcano. The near-Earth asteroid 3753 Cruithne is a co-orbital object in a Horseshoe orbit, as are a number of other quasi-satellites of Earth.

PHL-03

PHL-03

The PHL-03 is a 12-tube 300 mm long-range multiple rocket launcher of the Peoples Republic of China. The design is based on Russian made BM-30 Smerch rocket artillery system. The main role for this multiple rocket launcher is to engage strategic targets such as large concentration of troops, counter battery, airfields, command centre, air defense battery and support facilities. The PHL-03 has the same configuration with original Russian counterpart with 12 launch tubes for 300 mm artillery rockets, along with a computerized fire control system FCS incorporating GPS/GLONASS/Beidou. A standard weight for each rocket is 800 kg with 280 kg of warhead. Maximum firing range is depending on warhead type which around 70 - 130 km. Standard warhead is High Explosive Fragmentation HE-FRAG, fuel-air explosive, and cluster warheads with anti-armor and anti-personnel submunitions. Cluster warhead can also carry self-targeting anti-tank munitions. A full salvo of this system could potentially cover an area of up to 67 hectares.
